Greta is a railway station on the Main North Line branch of CityRail's Hunter Line. Diesel railcars serve the station on regional services from Newcastle.
The station serves the town of Greta and its surrounding area, in the Hunter Valley. There are two short platforms connected by a footbridge, and there is no disabled access to the station.
The station serves the Scone branch of the Hunter Valley line, which is only served by four trains a day each way on weekdays (three to Scone and one to Muswellbrook heading north west, and four to Newcastle heading east). On weekends there are only two services each way to Scone and Newcastle in the morning and evening.
